HERO 1 retains its hardness at temperatures exceeding 1400ºF (760ºC) making it an excellent choice for high temperature, abrasive applications such as pump sleeves, expeller screws and drill heads. The high volume of chromium carbide locked in its cobalt matrix makes HERO 1 stubbornly resist abrasion and solid particle erosion, and it withstands corrosion.

APPLICATIONS

Pump sleeves, rotary seal rings, wear pads, valve seats, expeller screws, seaming rolls, bearing sleeeves, drill heads & crushers.

TECHNICAL

- Crack sensitive; care should be taken to minimize cooling stresses

- Bonds well to all weldable steels and stainless

- Resistant to oxidizing

- Corrodes mainly by a pitting mechanism and not by general mass loss in seawater and chloride solutions. The typical electrode potential in sea water at room temperature is approximately -0.4 V (SCE).
