HERO 12 is a machinable hardfacing alloy with exceptional high-heat wear and abrasion resistance. This alloy is used for facing the cutting edges of long knives in the wood, chemical, plastics, carpet and paper industries. With a higher tungsten content, HERO 12 has better high temperature properties than HERO 6. Effective up to temperatures of 1300ºF (700ºC), it is also a good choice for hardfacing engine valves.

APPLICATIONS

Wood cutting tools, knives, scissor blades, shear edge, saw teeth, industrial knives, guide bars, pinch rollers, push rods, extrusion dies & engine valves.

TECHNICAL

- Bonds well to all weldable steels and stainless

- Corrodes mainly by a pitting mechanism and not by general mass loss in seawater and chloride solutions. The typical electrode potential in sea water at room temperature is approximately -0.3 V (SCE).
